FSSAI LICENSE
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. FSSAI is responsible for ensuring food safety and regulating the food industry in India. FSSAI license or registration is mandatory for businesses involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, and sale of food products.
- Mandatory Requirement:
- FSSAI registration or license is compulsory for all food business operators (FBOs) in India, irrespective of the size or scale of operations.
- Categories of FSSAI License:
- FSSAI issues different types of licenses based on the scale and nature of the food business. The three main categories are:
- Basic Registration (FSSAI Registration): For small food businesses with an annual turnover below a specified limit.
- State License: For medium-sized food businesses operating within a single state.
- Central License: For large-scale food businesses operating in multiple states or engaged in import-export activities.
